Nestled in the stunning Catskills Forest is Shev & Nikki’s home, a short drive from Bovina Center and the place where they would celebrate their intimate New York wedding with family and close friends. Originally they had planned for a wedding in Italy but some rescheduling due to covid they decided what better place to host their wedding was at home, and what a space for a wedding, it was perfect.

Pre wedding evening was hosted by Bovina Farm among the fair hills of Bovina, nestled into the sunny side of our mountain in the Western Catskills. The homestead is a return to their roots as barefooted kids who grew up under the big skies and whose family lineages call back to seven generations of Catskills farmers.

A little farm in the woods as a place to gather, stay, eat, and drink, the perfect space for a candle lit wedding reception in Upstate New York.

Wedding guest from all four corners of the world came to celebrate Shev & Nikki’s weekend and Bovina farm felt the perfect space to kick start the event, under a blanket of hailstorm and rain the cosy warm glow from inside made it all the more intimate and safe.

“As a luxury destination wedding videographer

who has filmed weddings all across...”

As a luxury destination wedding videographer and analogue wedding photographer, who has documented weddings all across Europe, and as far as India and the USA, I try and stay in interesting places close to the wedding. On this trip I was fortunate enough to stay at Brushland Eating House.

Owned and ran by Sohail and Sara, husband and wife and teammates in love, life and food. Brushland was conceived in 2014, carving a monument and placing it on Main Street, a place worth craving. They both believe that hosting and eating should never feel mundane, whatever the day. Sohail is the master of the kitchen and Sara hosts like no other.

The experience I received here at Brushland was unlike any other place I’ve stayed. The level of calm was unmatched. The apartment above the eating house was so peaceful, with just the right amount of decor to feel homely, but minimal enough to instantly sooth the brain, the perfect balance for me whilst travelling and preparing to film this intimate New York wedding.

Huge thank you for Sohail and Sara for making this stay perfect, creating amazing food and ensuring our stay was memorable and peaceful. As we film more weddings in upstate New York I have no doubt we will be back.

bacon, egg & cheese with a coffee...

Whilst staying in Bovina in the Catskills we had the pleasure of frequenting our new favourite breakfast spot, Russell’s. Every morning we took a slow walk down the street to Russell’s for a bacon, egg & cheese with a coffee, sat outside and watched the world go by and we can’t wait to go back to Bovina to say Hi to everyone.

THE WEDDING DAY

As a New York wedding videographer, we headed upstate and out of the city, a few hours drive to the Catskills forest, home of Shev & Nikki. The wedding day was so relaxed and effortless that I wanted to make a film that reflected the intimate nature of their wedding day. Nikki wore an amazing wedding dress and shoes by Mui Mui, with Shev in a tailored navy suit, both changing to a more casual look in the evening. Hay bales for seating during the ceremony, and a circle of bales ready to watch the sun set in the valley through the trees. A simple yet effortless look. It was a real pleasure to work with Kristin Piteo, who was photographing the wedding day.
